Pacing the Craft and Structure Block

Craft and Structure always opens a Reading and Writing module, ordered easiest to hardest within each skill, so the minutes you spend there set what's left for everything behind it.

Every Reading and Writing module is built in the same shape: Craft and Structure questions come first, then Information and Ideas, then the grammar questions (Standard English Conventions), then the notes-based questions (Expression of Ideas). That order never changes, which means the 13 to 15 Craft and Structure questions are effectively a toll booth at the start of the module. Whatever time you spend there is time you no longer have for the three domains waiting behind it.

Inside the Craft and Structure block itself, questions are grouped by skill, and within each skill group they run easiest to hardest. So if you hit a tough words-in-context question, a later words-in-context question in that same stretch is probably not easier. That pattern lets you feel out where you are: a cluster of quick, confident answers followed by one that drags is a sign you have moved to the harder end of that skill's group, not a sign something went wrong.

The module itself runs 32 minutes for 27 questions, which works out to roughly 71 seconds a question if you spread time evenly, though no one actually paces that mechanically. If Craft and Structure eats 14 of those 32 minutes, 18 minutes remain for Information and Ideas, the grammar questions, and the notes questions combined. In the harder second module, the same shape repeats: Craft and Structure still opens it, the skills still run in the same order, but the questions inside each skill are pitched harder, so budgeting time there matters even more.
